Column base plates seminar
Description
After the welcome, Arco de Gelder will give an introduction about the different design methods available from the Eurocodes and how they can be applied. Arco, together with Marcel van Odenhoven, has recently published a number of articles on this subject in the trade journal Bouwen met Staal. Afterwards, Hilti and IDEA will show their approach for both drilled and cast-in-place anchors. The aim of the seminar is to give more insight into the behavior of the different anchoring methods.
IDEA StatiCa will show the latest developments, such as verification according to NEN-EN 1993-1-8 and the design of a complex footplate connection including foundation block with 3D finite element method (EEM). Hilti will provide a demonstration on the application of drilled anchors in their laboratory in addition to a lecture.
The program will include plenty of room to discuss this interesting topic with each other. Finally, Professor of Steel Structures Milan Veljkovic will summarize the afternoon and outline developments in the field of standards development in steel. Hilti and IDEA invite you to stay for a bite to eat after the seminar. Participation is free and earns 1 point for the Constructors' Register.
An afternoon you as a structural engineer should not and cannot miss!
For whom
For structural designers, structural engineers, steel fabricators, and teachers.
Knowledge units
Registered designers and registered structural engineers receive 1 continuing education point or knowledge units (KE/PE points) for review for entry into the Register of Structural Engineers.
Duration
One afternoon/evening meeting of 4 hours with closing dinner buffet.
Where and when
The first two events, on Thursday, November 28, 2024 and Thursday, February 5, 2025, have unfortunately already passed. Due to success, a new seminar will be organized in the fall of 2025. You will be kept informed about this.
